Saughy Rigg is located 35 miles west of Newcastle upon Tyne and 25 miles east of Carlisle, both reached by the A69. The town of Haltwhistle is four miles away and has two small supermarkets, a garage and an outdoor swimming pool. The building is opposite the highest point of Hadrian's Wall and Steel Rigg car park is one mile away. Three major Roman forts are within four miles, Housesteads, Vindolanda and the Roman army museum.
